I haven’t really heard of the term Digital Garden until after I published this notes site.
I do like the idea of it, at least to my understanding of what it is. Essentially a collection of notes and thoughts to share with the world online. I don’t expect everything I share here to be useful or even read by anyone, but it’s still nice. Even the process of creating something like an Obsidian vault helps to keep thoughts organised. I do keep a separate private vault for general note taking though.
This throws back to the blogging days, which were a bit before my time. Still, in an age dominated by social media, with most “content” being posted to one of a few big sites, it’s nice to have my own corner lf the Internet to put up whatever I want. I’ve had my own personal site for years at this point but it’s always been some kind of pre-coded project each time. I never really worked out a good way to actually write the text that would be displayed without editing the code itself. Of course, I could’ve used a CMS or had some kind of database for storing the content but that gets out of hand. Being able to use Obsidian, which is primal for note taking, to write whatever I’d want and then have that convert to a web page is great.
